Touch Screen Test (Multi-Touch Checker)

Draw on the dark panel with one or more fingers to check that your touch screen responds everywhere. Each finger gets its own color so you can verify multi-touch, and gaps in your lines reveal dead zones.

How to use the Touch Screen Test

  1. Place one finger on the dark panel and drag it across. A colored line should follow your finger without gaps.
  2. Add more fingers at the same time. Each finger draws in a new color and the counter shows how many are detected.
  3. Sweep across the corners and edges. Any spot where the line breaks or never starts is a possible dead zone.
  4. Tap Full screen to test the whole display, then Clear canvas to start over.

How to tell if your touch screen is working properly

A healthy touch screen draws a smooth line under your finger from edge to edge and tracks every finger independently. Most modern phones support five or ten simultaneous touch points, and the tester shows both the maximum you reached and the number your device declares.

Warning signs are lines that break in the same place every time, taps that register somewhere other than where you touched (ghost touches), or fingers that disappear when a second finger lands. Dirt, a cracked screen protector, a case pressing on the edge or a software glitch can cause these, so clean the screen and remove accessories before drawing conclusions.

This test uses standard browser pointer events, so it works on phones, tablets and touch laptops. If you are checking a whole device, pair it with the Dead Pixel Test for the display and the Battery Test or GPS Test for other hardware.

Frequently asked questions

How many fingers should my phone detect?

Most current phones and tablets report between 5 and 10 simultaneous touch points. The tool shows both the number your device declares and the highest number you actually reach while testing.

How do I find dead zones on my touch screen?

Drag a finger slowly across every area of the panel, especially the corners and edges. Any place where the line breaks, jumps or never starts is a possible dead zone.

Why does the page not scroll while I use the test area?

The drawing panel blocks scrolling and pinch-zoom on purpose so that every touch is captured by the test. Scroll by touching outside the dark panel.

Does this work with a mouse or stylus?

Yes. It reports mouse and pen input as well as touch, and shows pressure when your pen or screen supports it.
